ISIS claimed responsibility Thursday afternoon for the rocket attack launched from the Sinai Peninsula late Wednesday night that sent people in Eilat racing for bomb shelters.

“A number of rockets were launched at Jewish centers in Eilat, known as Umm Rashrash. The Jews and Crusaders should know that the war of the apostles will not save them in any way,” the “Sinai Province” branch of the Islamic State (ISIS/Da’esh) terrorist organization said in its statement.

Israeli military data show that Gaza’s ruling Hamas terror group is “partnering ” with the ‘Sinai Province’ (ISIS) terror group.

According to the Hebrew-language Ynet news outlet, many of the Gaza-Egyptian military tunnels are now controlled by ISIS in the Sinai. A source quoted by the news outlet said Thursday the tunnel that was hit was located east of the Rafah crossing and that ISIS is operating in precisely this area, where their weapons depot is located.

Also indicating that the explosion may have been the result of an Egyptian attack is the fact ISIS now controls military tunnels in Gaza, according to the source.
