Smoke rises over Gaza after IAF air strike.

The Israel Air Force struck four Hamas terror targets in northern Gaza on Saturday following a barrage of rocket attacks fired at southern Israel on Friday night.

Red alert sirens activated in Sderot and the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council district, sending families scrambling for cover shortly after 10 pm.

Four Qassam rockets launched from Gaza exploded in open fields around the district within seconds after the alerts sounded.

Gaza’s ruling Hamas terror organization claimed responsibility for the attack.

The rocket attack was “just one example of extremist incessant efforts to threaten the security and safety of the people of southern Israel,” said IDF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Peter Lerner. “The IDF will continue to act to protect against those who threaten innocent lives and Israel’s sovereignty.”

In response, Israeli fighter pilots were in the skies over Gaza by morning to retaliate. Local sources said missiles landed near a Hamas training base.

Hamas officials told international media that a family home near Beit Lahiya was hit by debris from the attack, allegedly killing two Arab siblings, ages 10 and 6, in the process.

Alon Shuster, head of the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, expressed sorrow for the Gazan casualties. Still, he said, “These injuries are a result of the justified response of the State of Israel to the aggression against it. Our residents not only demand quiet, they also are creating a routine: Just after the (rocket) fire, my son went out to a party set for that time in [local community] Nahal Oz.”

  1. Zchary Miller, just who put you in charge of speaking for all the American people? In fact if you ask any American person who actually knows what is happening they will disagree with you! If you think it is OK for you to hit me and when I hit you back and hurt you it is OK for you to go crying that I hit you back you re not going to get anyone to say anything else than you started it and should not have him him in the first place. You need to get you ignorant brain out of the gutter and actually know some facts and stop lying about things that do not happen.

  2. This is the usual pathetic Israeli response when attacked. IAF fighters bomb some remote, probably abandoned storage dump in Gaza and we read the word “smoke rises from an IAF strike” as if this is supposed to mean something. It means exactly squat. A strike on what exactly? Not only a useless response but always a reactive response as if to convey something is being done in the fight against terror. Long gone are the days when Israel was proactive. Now the nation acts like a bunch of ghetto Jews of old waiting for the next onslaught with a predictable and useless response.

  3. You need to go back on your meds Comrade. We, the American people know EXACTLY who is responsible for the terrorism in the Middle East and it started long before Israel reclaimed her land in 1948. It started when Abraham used an Egyptian woman named Hagar to father a son called Ishmael. Abraham's real heir was his son Isaac whom God had promised to Abraham and Sarah. Do your research Mr. Miller before you claim to speak for the American people.

  4. Why is it that these people attack us with missles and when we respond, they do what they do best and cry that we are hurting them! If you want to bomb us, you better be prepared to be bombed right back. You need to figure out that we NEVER hit you first, but always hit you back harder. If you spent more time making peace your lives would be much better. You simply cnnot win a shooting war with us. We practice the 100 to 1 rule. There are 100 times more of you than there are of us, so every time you attack, for everyone of us you hurt we will kill 100 of you and soon you will all e gone!

  5. The real problem is the Israeli government. It allows cement, steel and all types of construction materials to enter Gaza. Israel knows that these materials are being used to build tunnels and others things to kill us. All shipments of construction materials should not enter Gaza at all, this will slow down the construction of tunnels and rockets coming into our communities.

  6. Esteban Sperber Frankel (below) is basically right but the IDF should strike again and even stronger to protect it's Citizens. Collateral damsage is a neccessary evil in war -an unintended cosequence. Franklin Roosevelt ordered a strike in many German Cities which killed hundreds of thousands of Germans men ,women and children — unintended consequences !!

  7. It is about time that Israel is responding more than one time against these constant rocket attacks from Gaza. The rocket attacks from Gaza will not stop unless Israel retaliates at least ten times for each rocket attack from Gaza.
