Israel Says Hamas’ Rivals Are Likely behind Latest Attacks

Hamas probably is not responsible for the recent escalation of missile attacks on Israel and may even be trying to prevent them. However, it still will be the target of retaliation, a senior Israeli military officer told Reuters Thursday.

The officer, who was quoted on the basis of anonymity, said rival terrorist groups, smaller than Hamas, are likely behind the attacks.

The IDF routinely states that Hamas is responsible for all terrorist activity since it is the de facto authority in Gaza since it overthrew the rival Fatah terrorist faction nearly eight years ago.

Evidence of smaller groups was exposed by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) on Wednesday, when it revealed that it arrested in December three Palestinian Authority terrorists, including the ringleader who tried to create the cell from his Israeli jail cell and was in contact with a Gaza terrorist  under the direction of Hamas.

The Holy Warriors Brigade, was financed and trained by Hamas, which in effect was a front for the cell, security officers said.

The IDF has suggested several times over the past two years that Hamas is losing control of Gaza and that  it is unable to influence other terrorist groups to increase or decrease attacks on Israel.

The latest round of missile attacks spiked with five launches towards Ashkelon late Wednesday night, with the Iron Dome system intercepting the incoming rockets.

“We won’t go back to a situation where three or four times a week the red alarm sounds in southern Israeli towns,” the military source told Reuters.

  1. So now in the middle of a so called peace plan the Arab’s living in Gaza attack Israel with missiles again! Israel has struck back and now we wait for the calls of how bad Israel is for doing that. Already we have the report of women and children getting injured by the resultant strike. Notice that the retaliation is condemned but that the rocket launch is innocent? We will hear stories of how Israel occupies Arabic land and we will hear calls for a Palestinian state. I state that God promised to bring Israel back into this land, and that is EXACTLY what God has done! THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A NATION OF PALESTINE, despite what the many nations claim. When the Arab nations around Israel attacked; God continued to extend Israel’s borders. Israel even regained Jerusalem and the Temple mount! These events/wars have been an obvious fulfillment of God’s promise to bring Israel back into his land in the end times. He even specified that the nation would be born in ONE day. That day was May 14, 1948. God’s word teaches us that in the end times when Israel is brought back, that they would never be fully removed again. To make a so called peace deal which involves giving away the land that God promised Israel is a huge sin. I believe that the rapture/departure of the Christian church is to take place very soon and that an evil peace deal will be made for 7/360 day years, between Israel, the Arabs and a person who will head the one world government. That man will be the anti-Christ. I wrote a book in 2012 that discusses some of the prophecies written about in the Bible. It’s a short read of 6 or 7 pages and it’s totally free.
