Both rival films which competed in the 85th Academy Awards ceremony for best documentary, “The Gatekeepers,” directed by Israeli Dror Moreh, and “5 Broken Cameras,” directed by Palestinian Emad Burnat and Israeli Guy Davidi, have failed to receive the Oscar.

The prize went to “Searching for Sugar Man,” a chronicle of a forgotten musician’s rediscovery, Directed by the Swedish filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul.
