Hillary Barr of Mothers Against Terrorism speaks at the rally in NYC protesting UNESCO Resolution

Words of history, political and emotional connections to Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, the Kotel (Western Wall) and the Dead Sea Scrolls were emphasized by speaker after speaker on Thursday, November 10th at a march and rally protesting UNESCO’s effort to erase Jews and Judaism from the Temple Mount.

The most recent effort by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was a resolution referring to the holy sites both on and around the Temple Mount solely by their Arabic names. This resolution seeks to invalidate any claim  of the Jewish people to our holiest site, the marchers explained.

Speaker after speaker including Rabbi Avi Weiss and Mothers Against Terrorism’s Hillary Barr led chants of “Shame On Unesco” during the peaceful rally. There was also singing and dancing.

Jews and Non-Jews, young and old chanted, “We Stand With Israel,” as representatives of more than a dozen Jewish organizations, waved Israeli and American flags in unison.

“Although the election is over, the fight for issues that matter to the community goes on. I was very pleased to speak at the rally opposing UNESCO’s ongoing attempt to sever the connection between the Jewish people and the land of Israel because this is a matter of great concern to the community — and is of critical importance to US national security. We need leaders who will stand up to the UN on behalf of the United States and Israel, and I stand ready to help in any capacity I can,” stated Phil Rosenthal, recent congressional candidate and board member of the Endowment for Middle East Truth, EMET.

Those interested in joining the effort to protest UNESCO’s efforts to erase Jewish ties to Jerusalem were encouraged to sign a petition.
