Ronald Lauder and Morton Zuckerman, past chairmen of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations will head the groups’ 39th Annual Leadership Mission to Israel with a trip in advance to France, the Conference announced Thursday.
The Conference is an umbrella group for 50 major U.S. Jewish organizations.
More than 100 leaders of the Conference and its member organizations will visit Paris and meet with the French president and prime minister as well as Jewish officials.
A delegation will also visit Toulouse in an expression of solidarity with the Jewish community of that city that witnessed the brutal murder of Jewish children and others outside a Jewish school.
The 100-strong delegation will be meeting in Israel in the near future, at the same time Prime Minister is trying to form a new government coalition.
Richard Stone, Chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations said that the mission to France will “offer our leaders the opportunity to explore in depth the internal and external issues and challenges facing France and the French Jewish community.
“Our discussions will be all the more timely as we explore the importance of the election’s implications and its likely impact on the socio-economic issues, regional challenges, prospects for peace, and the revolution in the Arab world including Jordan, Syria, Egypt and the ongoing Iranian nuclear threat,” said Stone and Hoenlein.
