The revised testimony by Former FM Avigdor Liberman’s deposed deputy Danny Ayalon appears to get Liberman into hotter water, as the AG on Thursday has presented a revised indictment against him, which includes details regarding a greater involvement on the ex-minister’s part in the appointment of an ambassador to Belarus.

The indictment accuses Liberman of ordering Ayalon directly to appoint Zeev Ben Aryeh as ambassador.

Since this is a new indictment, Liberman, who remains a member of the Knesset, must give up his immunity once more.

MKs are immune from prosecution while still serving.

Despite the added testimony, it is still possible that the court would consider the violation too minute to justify adding to it a “shame” (kalon) clause, which is reserved to public servants gone bad, should Liberman be convicted.

Absent the shame clause, Liberman could be back in service as government minister after the elections.
