The kidnappers are apparently connected to Al Qaida, and the kidnapping may have been a warning to the Libyan government to not cooperate with the American government, after US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the recent capture of Al Qaida terrorist Abu Anas al-Libi, on Libyan soil, by the US military.
