Tzipi Livni, Israel’s senior negotiator in direct talks with the Palestinian Authority, could not resist the opportunity to say something about Wednesday night peace talks and revealed to reporters that the discussions were “serious.”

Would anyone expect that the talks would not be serious? Thanks to Livni, everyone now knows that she and Saeb Erekat did not play backgammon.

Palestinian Authority and Israeli negotiators concluded five hours of direct talks, which concluded around 1 a.m. Thursday morning. For at least six hours, they have followed the American script by not revealing any details of the discussions, except for Livni’s disclosure.
