Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has died following a stroke at the age of 87. She was a strong supporter of Jewish causes but often clashed with Israel, especially during the term of Prime Minister Menachem Begin. She called the policy of encouraging Jewish to live in Judea and Samaria “absurd.”

Nicknamed the “Iron Lady,” she was the first woman to prime minister of Britain, she led the Conservative government as the country’s leader from 1979 to 1990.
