Meretz Chairwoman Zahava Gal-On said Monday that Israel should declare a unilateral ceasefire in Gaza and call off Operation Protective Edge.

“We cannot eliminate the terrorist infrastructure,” Gal-on told Israel Radio. “… and the images being broadcast around the world are causing damage.”

Gal-on did not expound on how she would suggest responding to the rocket fire.

MK Zeev Elkin (Likud) said in response that Israel must not broadcast weakness to terror organizations. That, in turn, would lead to more rockets on Israeli civilians.

“We must continue to hit Hamas, with a ground invasion if necessary,” Elkin said. He continued to note that Israel should consider reducing aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as Gaza’s electricity and water supply.

  12. Melinda Kay Rhodes Godwin I don’t think that Israel should stop if Hamas stops. A cease fire would just give Hamas time to regroup and rearm. Israel should only stop when the terrorist infrastructure is totally dismanteled. Otherwise they are puttting millions of Israelis in danger.
