There will be a string of four "blood moons" in the year 5775, and one of them will shine over the Passover seder. Whenever this happened in the past, enormous events took place in Jewish history.

Back in October 2013, we published an article about the “Blood Moon” Rising on Passover. It proved to be very popular. We republish it again for your reading pleasure.

It starts with the Book of Joel, Chapter 3:3-4: “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.”

The verse about the sun turning dark and the moon turning to blood, is at the center of a new, hot, Christian bestseller titled “Four Blood Moons,” by Pastor John Hagee. It is based on a discovery by Pastor Mark Biltz, who runs a “Hebrew roots” ministry in Tacoma, Washington: Red Moons.

Biltz’s website declares: “We do not want to convert Jews to Christianity or Christians to Judaism,” which works for me. He based his observation on the verse in Genesis 1:14: “And God said, Let there be lights in the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.”

  1. Blood moons are quite common (just a fancy name for lunar eclipses), What is unusual is the pesach – sukkot – pesach – sukkot sequence. Full marks to Pastor Blitz for spotting the commercial opportunity.

  2. Very excited , if you will run the times of the blood moons it is always followed by something major for Israel. I’m so excited as to what God is going to do with this blood moon on the 15th. The last blood moon was the 6 day war and look how it turned out for Israel .

  3. Several problems here. 1. The ‘blood moons’ will not be visible from Israel. 2. Blitz found several instances of 4 ‘blood-moons’ that occurred at times when nothing really happened in the history of the jews. 3. Some of the great historic events took place several years before or after an instance of 4 blood moons, leaving us with a less than Godly accuracy. I enjoy both history, astronomy and prophetic events. But lets stick to something a bit more fact-based.
I might add that a fourth problem is that the solar eclipse, that should serve as a sign for all the world will only be observable from the tiny Faraoe islands and the 2000 population Svalbard. Not really a great ‘sign’ for all the world to see.

  5. This is the first of (4) blood moons each on a high holy day. Tetrach (4) blood moons on (4) successful events ,– passover 2014 then tabernacles 2014 then pasover 2015 then tabernacles 2015 the in the middle a solar eclipse with a blood moon in the middle. Blood moons reflect the nation Israel or the Jews…the solar eclipse with blood moon..something happening in the world and central is Israel

  6. Well, if there is anything to what we read here and if it is to be understood in light of prophecy, it only leaves the second coming of Jesus Christ which is synonymous with the coming of the Messiah. The two events are the same. It could mean nothing but can one afford to ignore it? As pertaining to Joel, the same passage is quoted by Peter on the day on the Christian calendar, Pentecost. There must be some connection but, as indicated, we often cannot know till after the event. My advice is, keep watching and expecting. It is better to be disappointed than to be unprepared and destroyed for lack of knowledge (see Hosea 4:6).

  7. Interesting astronomical event. I have seen and photographed many of these. Eclipses are common, and the color is due to the refraction of light through the atmosphere. I wouldn’t give the house away and lay out in a field waiting for “the final trump” though……

  8. If Israel is central – then it might be interesting that none of the moons will be visible from the holy land. And the solar eclipse will hardly be visible from any inhabited piece of land. Several of the previous tetrarch that was identified (and ignored) were not connected with any significant happenings. It is interesting but hardly prophetic 😉

  9. The covenant keeping God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is faithful. May He give us eyes to see the invisible, ears to hear the inaudible and a mind to imagine the unimaginable. I will be on my knees in prayer. May we all be on our knees in prayer. That is the only place where there are no disappointments and all expectations are fulfilled, not according to our will but according to HIs perfect purposes for us. Just like the small manger in Bethlehem became a great sign to the entire universe way down into 2014, we all must maintain the position to heed the words,
” He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says…”

  10. Blood moons happen all of the time…over 70 times in the twentieth century. I would like to know where the Old testement speaks of Tetrads of Blood moons…easy answer…it does NOT. This blood moon hype is nothing more than a money making scam for book sales. Joel was speaking of the impending destruction of the temple in 70 AD…not 2014/2015. The 6th seal in Revelation speaks the same verbiage with an earthquake as part of the destruction. How does a lunar eclipse create an earthquake? People need to wake up and remove the spiritual scales from their eyes.

  12. Okay, people, this is how it works:
The sun will grow dark is a reference to, in the end times, that the people will realize that their brilliant leaders that they are all starry-eyed over and suck up to shamelessly are actually evil, self-serving people who do not have the best interests of their citizens at heart. People will then no longer put all of their faith in the selfish leaders of men to cure the ills of humanity, and their former sheen and brilliance will be seen as darkness. This is the end of the age of kings, whatever name you call them by.
The moon will turn red is a reference to prophecy coming to flesh. It of course refers to what today is defined as “madness”. The red “covering” refers to first man Adam, Moses, the covering of the Tabernacle, the red clay of the Garden of Eden, sacrifice, etc., etc.
Historically, what you have is mashiach appearing in a time of freedom for the individual; then, the time of the end of the rulers men seem to so favor, who enslave them; then, mashiach reappearing to assert the freedom of the individual in the end of time.
Symbolically, this has always been represented in the natural world by a solar eclipse bracketed by two lunar eclipses. The earth itself will blot out the sun, and the moon will shine red in its shadow. In essence, the blood moon is the offspring of the earth, which is negating the former power of the sun. Symbolically, this means that you as sentient creatures must first say a farewell to all the forms of kings, and go back to your pre-slavery roots, before the final age of mashiach can be initiated.
Judeo-Christian, New Age, whatever — it is all the same thing; the same promise.
