Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked

(JNi.media) Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) told Israel Radio Thursday morning that she has begun a process of revoking the citizenship and residency of Arab terrorists. She said that the families of terrorists who have been involved in or supported the terror actions will be deprived of residency, terrorist property will be confiscated and their homes will be destroyed.

But getting rid of a terrorist by revoking his Israeli citizenship (as opposed to residency) may prove difficult to carry out. Article 11 of Israel’s Citizenship Law says that the Interior Minister may revoke the Israeli citizenship of a person who committed an act which constitutes a breach of loyalty to Israel (e.g. carrying out an act of terrorism, soliciting or assisting terrorism, or belonging to a terrorist organization)—only if the cancellation of his Israeli citizenship will not leave the same person without any citizenship, and should he be left without any citizenship as stated—he will receive a permit to reside in Israel, as ordered by the court.

Shaked added that Abbas is a terrorist and not a proper partner for discussion. She noted that the Palestinian Authority incitement against Israel continues all the time, and that it is time to close down the Palestinian television channel.

As to the US State Dept. Spokesman’s statement that Israel uses excessive force, Shaked said that this is a total misunderstanding, or hypocrisy on the part of the Administration.

MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid) also told Israel Radio that Israel does not use excessive force. Shelah added, however, that even though Abbas is the enemy and is spreading lies, he still sees the Palestinian Authority as a much better alternative to “other alternatives.” Shelah insisted that Israel had to fight against the lies and incitement, yet to reach an agreement with the enemies.
