Israeli medical personnel have been treating wounded Syrians caught in the civil war for more than two years.

A sore point for the hospitals in Israel’s north has been who is going to pay for the hospital treatment for the wounded Syrians that are brought in to them by the IDF.

Over 600 Syrians, wounded in their civil war, have been treated in Israeli hospitals, and around half of the wounded are children.

Most of the injured have been taken to Ziv hospital in Tzfat and the Western Galilee hospital in Nahariya.

These Syrians brought to Israel are treated to extended hospital stays, advanced surgeries, rehab, medicines, prostheses, wheel chairs, and other medical supplies.

The hospitals have been taking on the burden of treating them at their own expense, without knowing if they would recover any of their expenditures, but there is still a fiscal limit to how much they can handle without remuneration from someone.

After much argument, the Prime Minister’s office has decided that the Ministry of Defense will cover a third of the cost for the outlayed costs, which comes to around NIS 10 million ($2.85 million) to date.

The remaining NIS 20 million ($5.7 million) will be covered by the Ministry of Health.

This NIS 30 million will be transferred immediately to the hospitals, and from now on, every 3 months money will be transferred to the hospitals to cover the costs of treating wounded Syrians.

In general, after recuperating, these wounded Syrians have returned to Syria with a positive view of the country they’ve been brainwashed all their lives into hating.
