Muammar Gaddafi’s son captured

Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam has been arrested near the south-western Libyan town of Obari.

Saif al-Islam was captured while trying to secure passage to Niger. He has been on the run since August.

Saif al-Islam will be held in custody until a new Libyan government is formed, at which point he will be handed over and tried for war crimes. While the International Criminal Court (ICC) prefers that al-Islam handed over to them for trial.
