The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a massive blast has destroyed a Syrian air defense base near the coastal city of Latakia. Syrian and Lebanese sources speculate that it was caused by an Israeli rocket strike from a naval vessel in the Mediterranean.

The Syrian Observatory and Twitter users quoted eyewitnesses who said the blast occurred near Snobar Jableh, just south of Latakia.
