3) An armed gunman took multiple hostages in a Colombes (northwest suburb of Paris) post office on Friday, using a Kalashnikov rifle and grenades.

The man eventually surrendered to police after a standoff that lasted hours.

The man has a criminal record for petty crimes, and when he surrendered he was said to have been “speaking incoherently”, according to an AFP report.

French police now believe it was a robbery, and not terror related.
