(JNi.media) Driven by a passion for cycling, a brand-new Israeli company called Everysight will be offering smartglasses for cyclists in 2016, marketed as Raptor by Everysight. Raptor smartglasses pack uniquely unobtrusive display technology and powerful functions into a deceptively sleek design. The product looks and feels like traditional sports eyewear, but with hidden technology that helps athletes get the most out of their activity.

Raptor will come equipped with Everysight Beam technology, similar to what pilots have been using for decades: see-through display technology that crisply overlays information directly in the wearer’s line of sight. With Everysight Beam, the lens itself serves as the augmented display, eliminating offset displays found on other smartglasses. Everysight Beam avoids peripheral distractions, reduces eyestrain and eliminates opaque display elements that can obscure the view. In addition to superior optics, smartglasses with Everysight Beam are stylish, lighter and more comfortable.

According to Velo News, as the smartglass technology matures, designers attempt to bring information to users when it’s wanted, without being distracting, without too much extra weight, and without making the wearer look like a robot: “Wearable tech works when it looks and feels like the analog technology it’s replacing — the Apple Watch looks and wears like a watch — while adding functionality. This is one reason why Google Glass failed, even with all of that company’s development power. Whoever can get closest to a regular pair of glasses is likely to dominate.”

Everysight, a revolutionary new consumer wearable technology company, was spun out of Elbit Systems, the largest defense technology company in Israel and a market leader in advanced fighter jet and rotary wing helmet mounted display systems. Everysight announced its official launch on Tuesday. The company uses Elbit’s decades of cutting edge experience in augmented reality and vision display systems to get into the consumer wearable market.
