NJDC Removes Adelson Petition

The National Jewish Democratic Council, citing peace among Jewish groups, has taken down a petition calling on Republicans not to accept money from Sheldon Adelson.
“Regarding our recent campaign surrounding Sheldon Adelson, we don’t believe we engaged in character assassination; we stand by everything we said, which was sourced from current, credible news accounts. Accusations against Mr. Adelson were made not by us, but by others, including Senator John McCain (R-AZ). Nonetheless, we regret the concern that this campaign has caused. And in the interest of shalom bayit (peace in our home / community), we are going to take down our petition today. Moving forward, we’ll continue to work hard to fight against the unique threat posed by the outsized influence of certain individual megadonors, which rightly concerns most Americans and most American Jews.”
The petition based the call on allegations by a former employee suing Adelson for firing him that Adelson agreed to allow prostituion at his casinos in Macau, China; on the claim by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) that Adelson, with the tens of millions of dollars he has infused into the Republican side of this year’s elections, was effectively introducing Chinese money into the campaign; and on federal investigations into allegations that Adelson has paid bribes in China.
A number of Jewish groups and figures, including the Jewish Federations of North America, the Anti-Defamation League, the Republican Jewish Coalition and Alan Dershowitz called the allegations unconscionable, noting that all had yet to be proven.
Adelson is a major giver to Jewish causes, especially the Birthright program bringing young people to Israel and Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial, and has given to causes associated with or favored by those who defended him in this case.

And only Republicans have mega donors? Or is it OK as long as it is for Democrats?
Well, most mega donors favor the GOP, but all mega donors -no matter the party they favor and/or their personal honesty- tend to skew and taint election results.
Most megadonors Republican, like George Soros?
It could be mega donors (any body gives more money than the unions?) skew and taint election results…maybe as much as forbidding states to ask for identification. Having lived in a Latinamerican country full of what is called in the US, "minorities", nobody would be allowed to vote without ID. People have to show ID to buy liquor and to go into a bar, but not to vote??? Don't they have to show some kind of ID to register for all kinds of activities, like going to school, joining a team, joining a club… but not to vote ??? Mmmm
Obtaining an ID in France, Israel, or a slew of other democracies, is quite easy. In America, there isn't an actual National ID card but a bunch of states with various rules as to what constitutes a valid ID. If you live in California, you have it made: it's quite easy. In other states however it is deliberately made difficult so that the poor and the minorities will be barred from voting. Tania, as in everything else, the Devil is in the details.
For the Mega Donors, I believe that I said, no matter on which political side they are, they do skew the elections.
Muriel in most States, a valid driver's licence is an ID. In places like Fl., they give an ID to people who don't drive. A birth certificate is a valid ID……
If you don't use some type of ID it makes it easy to cheat. The party that doesn't want people to have IDs is obviously the party that wants to cheat. Otherwise they would go to court to make it easy to get IDs in the States where it is difficult to do so., and not fight against the states that require IDs. On the contrary, any responsible government would want to have people with IDs so people elect a government democratically and not make cheating easier……
