A request by MK Hana Sweid (Hadash), to put up an official Christmas tree in the entrance to the Knesset was turned down by Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud), according to a report in Arutz-7. Sweid is from an Christian-Arab family.

Edelstein made it clear that the Knesset will not officially host a Christmas display as it wasn’t “befitting”, but there is nothing stopping Sweid from putting up a tree in his office, or for his party to put one up in their party faction’s office.
