Police in New York are expecting the return of Julio Acevedo, who was arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the car crash that killed Satmar hasidic couple Nathan and Raizy Glauber and their unborn baby in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on their way to a hospital.

On Wednesday, Acevedo walked up to officers who were waiting for him in cars in a Bethlehem, Pa. parking lot and was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said.

Acevedo’s surrender was brokered by a friend who had been negotiating with police on his behalf. The friend met officers at New York’s Grand Central Terminal and then led them to Acevedo in Bethlehem, close to 80 miles away, police said.

In a video hearing, Acevedo was ordered held without bail on a charge of being a fugitive from justice late Wednesday, and the judge said he’d face a hearing on his extradition to New York on Thursday to address his return to New York.

The judge said it was expected Acevedo would waive extradition and agree to return to New York.
