Haredi IDF Battalion Marks 33% Increase in Recruits

Last Thursday the recruitment began at the "Netzach Yehuda" Haredi battalion of the Kfir Brigade, as more than 200 anxious ultra-Orthodox recruits arrived at the processing center. Last year, some 380 soldiers joined the regiment, and according to official data from the Department of Manpower, the current cycle will see an increase of 33% in the number of recruits.

Miriam Ben-Porat, Israel’s first female Supreme Court President died on Thursday at the age 94. She was also Israel’s first female State Comptroller. Ben-Porat was born in Russia in 1918, and moved to Israel in 1936. She graduated with a degree in law in 1945. Ben-Porat is survived by a daughter and three grandchildren.

Calif. Court Clears Path for Suit against Texas Corporation for Desecrating Jewish Cemetery

The California State Supreme Court on Monday upheld a lower-court decision that gave class-action status to a lawsuit alleging mass desecration of grave sites at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills, CA, a Jewish cemetery which is under the care of the Texas-based Service Corporation International, thus clearing the way for injured families to seek hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.
