The Palestinian Authority has taken the rare step of recalling one of its ambassadors because of anti-Semitic remarks, including a claim the “Jews don’t exists.”
Officials in Ramallah said that Imad Nabil Ghadaa, the ambassador to Chile, is being recalled to “clarify” his remarks that were caught on video in May and broadcast in Israeli media.
Ghadaa referred to the infamous anti-Semitic manifesto “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” and said the re-establishment of the State of Israel was part of a plan for “world domination.”
The Study of Global Anti-Semitism and Policy provided an English translation of Ghadaa’s speech, in which he said:
Until 1896 when a group of academic intellectuals, financial advisers, majority being non-Jewish Europeans, decided to create the Zionist movement with one pretext/excuse: the creation of a homeland for the Jewish people. Although the truth is that this (the goal) is to protect their plans of dominating life in the entire planet.
About the hatred we have against the Jewish people, as Palestinians, first, we don’t have hatred. Second, we don’t recognize the existence of the Jewish people — there is no Jewish people.
This was too much even for Americans for Peace Now group, which called on Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas to recall the ambassador.
The left-wing group said that his remarks “provoke hatred and anger among an Israeli public that is deeply skeptical about the viability of peace with the Palestinians and the credibility of the Palestinian leadership as a partner for peace.”
Most Israelis actually are no longer skeptical about “the viability of peace with the Palestinians.” They may have been skeptical a few years ago. Now, they simply know it does not exist and that the ambassador’s comments are not far froth the truth of what the Palestinian Authority really thinks.
