Tawfiq Tirawi, who was found guilty as an accomplice in a 2002 Tel Aviv suicide attack that killed one Israeli woman and injured 29, wants to go back to the business of warfare. It's established, then: every single time Israel negotiates with the Palestinians, it ends in a bloodbath.

A Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip will not be established within the coming 20 years, a member of the Central Committee of the Palestinian Authority’s ruling party Fatah said on Saturday, according to Ma’an.

Tawfiq Tirawi told Beirut-based al-Mayadeen satellite channel on Friday that “It is not possible under any circumstances that a Palestinian state will be established in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip 20 years from now.”

“Those who believe a state can be established are misled, as negotiations will bring nothing,” he added.

Tirawi urged the Palestinians to resume resistance.

“We have to resume action, as action can change many things. I mean resistance in all its aspects, but under a united Palestinian plan agreed by all factions including PLO factions and factions outside the PLO.”

So we went and wikipeded (yes, to wikipede is a verb) Tawfiq Tirawi, just to find out what he means by “resistance.” Turns out he’s not talking peaceful sit-ins.

In 2005, Tirawi was accused of recruiting a Palestinian teenager, Salah al Jitan, to perform a suicide attack. The teenager told his Israeli interrogators that Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade leaders pressured him to carry out a suicide bombing. Tirawi disputed the Israeli account, saying that “the Israelis are liars,” and that the boy had actually come to the brigades volunteering to carry out an attack but they refused to use him since he was the only son in his family.

Humanitarians, every last one of them.

In May, 2007, Tirawi was arrested during an Israeli raid in Shchem, on charges of recruiting and supplying suicide bombers.

In August, 2007, Tirawi was found guilty as an accomplice in a 2002 suicide attack. In the attack, an al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade member left Tirawi’s home in Shchem, and carried out the attack inside Israel, blowing himself up in the Bialik Café in Tel Aviv. Rachel Tcherkhi HY”D was killed in the attack and 29 others were injured.

In other words, Tawfiq Tirawi is a really bad man, and, like Palestinian leaders over a century, is determined to drag his people into a river of blood.

He noted that his movement had not dropped resistance as a choice, including armed resistance. “That was reiterated in the movement’s sixth congress held in Bethlehem.”

The framework agreement which U.S. secretary of state John Kerry is promoting will be refused by the Palestinians, Tirawi promised.
