In the hours before dawn on Wednesday, Israel Police awakened and arrested an eight-month pregnant woman in Yitzhar on suspicion of incitement to violence against security forces.

The woman, age 22, had allegedly advocated throwing rocks at Jews “even if the rock causes the death of a soldier” during discussions in an online Yitzhar residents’ email forum called “Yitzharniks.”

A second, 17-year-old resident also commented there is “no halachic problem in killing a soldier during a nighttime eviction” since according to halacha (Jewish law) one may kill anyone breaking and entering, thus posing a possible threat to life.

The conversation containing the incriminating comments was apparently forwarded to police and IDF Central Command by one of the participants, according to a report published by the Hebrew daily Yediot Acharanot.

The newspaper also interviewed the young woman’s mother, who commented, “The young generation is tired of walking around crouched and afraid. My daughter told me in conversation that just like Arab women walk around freely in Israel, there’s no reason that a Jewish women shouldn’t be able to as well… My daughter isn’t stupid. She’ll take responsibility for what she wrote even if she’s wrong.”

The opinion is not unanimous, however, despite a violent incident last month in which residents expressed anger at the demolition of buildings near the outskirts of the Jewish community, located in Samaria (Shomron).

“We have denounced this kind of talk in the past and will do so in future as well,” Yitzhar community spokesperson Ezri Tuvi told media in a statement. “This involves a minor and a woman whose emotions caused their tongues to slip and who already retracted their words.

“On the other hand, we demand the media fully denounce all talk of violence and incitement to hatred and physical harm against the settler public.”

Leftist Yesh Atid chairman and Finance Minister Yair Lapid responded that “Words easily turn into deeds. Some of Yitzhar’s residents have already proven that they have no limits or red lines. A threat to harm IDF soldiers is an action against the state’s sovereignty and against a hallowed basic value of the State of Israel.”

  1. Mike Burke says:

So what? At that stage of pregnancy she shouldn’t have even considered doing that! I have ZERO sympathy for her.

  2. Part of this does raise a question for Bibi…why is any Jew watching their back while Arabs walk with impunity, close the Temple Mount to Jews, and explore a unity government with terrorists (not that Abu Mazan didn’t represent terrorists)?

  3. The Police is unwise. The High Court, a few years back, forbade the demolition of Arab houses belonging to terrorists, calling such demolitions a collective -therefore illegal- punishment on the whole community. The Police, with the probable consent of the government, has chosen to apply the very same form of illegal collective punishment to the Jewish communities in which a few nincompoops live, who have committed vandalism against Arabs (NB: no matter what John Kerry says, racist vandalism isn’t as grave as actual terrorism). Furthermore, the High Court has also ruled that Arabs can verbally support terrorism without the Police being allowed to arrest them, as long as they haven’t acted on their words. Arresting that woman and that youth for activities equivalent to those they are forbidden to act upon, when committed by Arabs, is doing nothing to lower the tension. On the contrary, the Police -as well as the army and the government- are acting as if they were trying to push the settlers to complete insurrection, in order to be able to relinquish the whole territory to the PA. Whether or not it’s the plan, Bibi will fall and bring down with him the entire political class if he doesn’t put a stop to the discriminatory Police actions, because the “darn settlers” have relatives in the rest of Israel who are quite unlikely to forgive. Bear in mind the way Bibi was “interrupted” yesterday by the parents of the victims of the terrorists Bibi liberated during the latest “Peace talks”. So far, Israel has been able to withstand every attack, because Israel has been united. If the current government lets the police continue to drive a wedge between it and the population, after Yesha falls, so will Israel.

  4. She isn’t important, what is important is that the Police acts against settlers in a way the High Court has forbidden it to act against PA Arabs. If this continues, the Tensions between the Israeli population and its government may succeed were all of Israel’s enemies have failed and Israel may cease to exist once more. Do quit letting your misogyny dim your sight of the larger political situation.

  5. Why many christians beheaded in arab country when they spread the goodnews of bible, whats the problem of this country?
