JERUSALEM – A massive prayer rally was held at the Western Wall on Saturday night, June 19 for the safety and successful mission of Israel Defense Forces. Former Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Shlomo Amar called upon the Israeli public read the Psalms as did rabbis from across the spectrum. Rabbi Amar was among the Israeli rabbis who lead the prayers and reading of the Psalms on Saturday night as thousands gathered at Judaism’s holiest site in the nation’s capital to pray for the soldiers’ safety.

Over the weekend, two Israeli soldiers were killed and four wounded on Saturday morning, July 19 when a Hamas terror cell infiltrated into Israel through a tunnel dug from central Gaza. Amotz Greenberg, 45, from Hod Hasharon and Sgt. Adar Barsano, 20, from Nahariya were shot by Hamas terrorists, as they patrolled in a military vehicle on the Israeli side of the border.

The Hamas gunmen, dressed in IDF uniforms, had originally been heading to a nearby Israeli community to carry out a major attack, said army sources. The IDF patrol vehicle had not been the intended target but the terror cell opened fire with machine guns and anti-tank weaponry on the vehicle killing the two Israeli officers.

Israeli troops returned fire and killed on terrorist, while the other terrorists fled back to Gaza. Military sources indicate that the presence of the Israeli patrol vehicle prevented a much more devastating attack on Israeli civilians. More IDF soldiers have been deployed to the Israeli side of the Gaza border in order to prevent such attacks in the future according to the military.

In addition, two IDF soldiers were lightly injured and one severely injured overnight in a confrontation with Hamas terrorists in northen Gaza.

Also on Saturday, a Bedouin man, 32, was killed by a Gaza rocket that exploded in a Bedouin community near Dimona. His relatives also sustained light to moderate wounds including two boys and two women and were hospitalized in Beer Sheva’s Soroka hospital.

Over 94 rockets were fired at Israel throughout Saturday with rocket alarms sounding in Ashdod, Gedera, Kiryat Malachi, Dimona, Beer Sheva and the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council.

The Iron Dome intercepted a rocket over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area on Saturday night as well.

In one of the more bizarre attack attempts, a donkey laden with explosives was spotted suspiciously approaching IDF forces in the Rafah area on Friday evening, July 8. The forces approached the donkey and it exploded at a safe distance, with no injuries sustained by the IDF.

According to the IDF, up-to-date Israel Security Agency intelligence have brought to light that Palestinian terror organizations in Gaza intend to strap explosives onto animals and send them in the direction of ground forces. This was the first such attempt reported since Operation Protective Edge began 12 days ago.

Approximately 3,000 rockets have been eliminated in Gaza, said IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner while 13 terror tunnels were uncovered on the Gaza border. The Israeli Air Force has launched 2,400 strikes against terror targets in Gaza as of Saturday, July 19. It is estimated that half of the 10,000 rockets held by terrorist groups in Gaza have been either used or destroyed.

  1. We Christians in US are praying for you, and for that area. I loose the angels to do warfare on your behalf today, and want to keep praying. Quote Pslam 35, the angels of the Lord are encamped around about thee keeping thee in all of thy ways. That looses the angels to do this, as the Word Of God will not return God void. “My word will not return me void.”

  2. @Jewish Press: I was again reminded by Alan B. West’s post on Facebook that the Jews are voting Democrat for some reason, or at least those here in the U.S., but I think as they see just how full of hate the Democrats are, like for instance the post on “The Blaze” showing an anchor spewing hate about Israel going into Gaza and calling the troops “scum,” another Democrat hater, and John Kerry earlier this week blaming Israel. These Democrats are just like the Nazi’s, siding for Islam like a bunch of convoluted idiots. All here in the US have seen it, as they call us “religious -right” Republicans “Islamiphobes,” and spew hate at us for siding for Israel like we do. WERE NOT GOING TO QUIT BACKING ISRAEL WITH ALL OUR MIGHT… WE DO THE LETTER WRITING, THE CONTACTING REPRESENTATIVES, THE POLITICAL ACTIVISM FOR ISRAEL, and as anyone can see the Christian ministers weekly bring it to light on shows like We have Irvin Baxter End of the Age with Irvin Baxter https://www.facebook.com/irvinbaxter , John Hagee Ministries ……. Christian Civil Rights News Center, by Carrie Geren Scoggins …. keeping everyone informed, and doing political activism for Israel… “God blesses those that bless them, and curses those that curse them.” WHAT IS NOT BEING SAID ENOUGH IS HOW THE DEMOCRATS ARE TREATING ISRAEL,I HOPE THE JEWISH PEOPLE HEAR THE DEMOCRATS REMARKS AND START TO WAKE UP, THAT WE REPUBLICANS ARE THE ONES THAT STOOD UP FOR THEM, THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT REPUBLICANS!!!! All the way back to Nixon sending in supplies for Israel to defend itself back in the 1970’s, because he knows his party, the Republicans, will cut him off if he goes against Israel. The Christian religious right is a voting majority in the Republican party and non of us would go against Israel. I am angry at the Democrats over this, that they are pandering to Islam. Obama putting in Muslim clerics to lead prayer in our military, and his wanting to allow a victory mosque at the 911 site. Their harassment of the Christians that speak out against Islam, wanting us silenced. We do not have hate speech laws, as our Federal Supreme Court overturned them, but note that the Democrats are the ones that wanted this to be law. The Democrats wanted us censored from debating/ exposing Islam, but the laws were overturned. Just so you guys know, we religious right of the Republican party are PRO ISRAEL, and always have been. We are a voting mass of the Republicans, and our Republicans know better than to go against Israel and lose our support!
