According to the LA Jewish Weekly, about 1200 people attended the pro-Israel march, which was held in the Westwood section of West Los Angeles, a short distance from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The paper said the rally was interrupted “when three or four men wielding Palestinian flags arrived carrying long wooden sticks and allegedly attacked the pro-Israel demonstrators.”

About 200 pro-Palestinian activists had been holding a counter-demonstration across the street.

Witnesses said that police immediately stepped in to repel the attack, and that the assailants left the scene in their pickup truck. The individuals in the truck are all believed to be Palestinians from Anaheim, California, about an hour south of Los Angeles.

The paper said that the four men were arrested following the incident, and quoted a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff , Barry Poltorak, who said the men could be charged with felony assault.
