Border policeman in action

A Kfar Saba court yesterday sentenced a former member of the Border Police to six-months probation and 300 hours of community service for stealing around NIS 200 from some ten charity boxes which local synagogues keep in police stations in the Sharon area.

The former policeman was arrested three years ago, after a security camera captured him emptying out a charity box in the Kfar Saba police station. He admitted to committing at least ten more similar robberies, and was forced to resign from the force, after 21 years of service.

In January, a different member of the Border Police was arrested on suspicion of committing robbery and assault in Be’er Sheva, using his service weapon to force residents to hand over cash, jewelry and a cellular phone. And a month before, a Border Policeman was sentenced to 13 months in jail and 15 additional months’ probation for selling arms illegally.
