Putin Vows: Holocaust Will Not Be Repeated

Two years ago, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on a visit to Moscow, proposed the idea of a monument in Israel commemorating the sacrifices of the Red Army on behalf of Jews, President Putin promised to come to Israel for the inauguration ceremony.
On Monday, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Israeli President Shimon Peres, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, and Jewish leaders from around the world unveiled the brand-new Victory Monument in Netanya, Israel.
“I am very excited to be here today,” said President Putin. “We live in a fragile world and we are obligated to make sure that this dark and tragic time in history does not repeat itself. The Jewish Holocaust was the most shameful and dark event in human history, and the Soviet Army was the one who crushed the head of the Nazi monster.”
Puttin added: “This amazing monument strengthens the respect I feel towards to the Jewish people and the State of Israel…The wings in the monument are white like the wings of the dove that symbolizes peace.”
The design of the Monument was a first-ever joint initiative of Israel and Russia, conducted by a committee of members from both countries and funded by major Jewish philanthropists led by Keren Hayesod – UIA and the World Forum of Russian Jewry.
President Putin visited Israel specifically for the inauguration ceremony.
The Monument honors the millions of Red Army soldiers who perished in the war, among them 120,000 Jews.
Alexander Levin, President of the World Forum of Russian Jewry, a persistent supporters of the monument, said, “Millions of Russian Jews around the world are united at this moment in solidarity for the brave Red Army soldiers.”
More than half a million Jewish soldiers fought with the Red Army in WWII against the Nazis.

Not that one, but does that not mean that those who are selfishly cruel in power cannot rename the same manner of evil? I do NOT trust anything he says! Nor Obama! Nor the Middle E(ast)vil!
There was a bully on my block during my early to teen years. I was the only one to fight back, but soon that battle was over. A much larger bully came to my block and squashed the little bully. During the larger bully's reign 43,000,000 people were purged, 12,000,000 in deportation/ concentration camps and another 3 1/2 million in the collectives. A Majority of those murdered in the concentration camps were captives deported from blocks he had conquered. The rest were his own people. Of course that only amounted to a million and a half per year for 36 years so who's counting?
Years upon years later a representative from this block came to a block party on my block full of nice sounding words, and bragged about how the big bully squashed the little bully and put an end to his reign of terror, calling the little bully's deeds "the most shameful" in human history.
And what's more the representative of my block was full of the same insincere congratulatory remarks. They went home afterward to their beds, just hating each other, and wondering who was kidding whom.
Love it. Also, it reminds me of the greatest pro-Israel song ever: Neighborhood Bully by Bob Dylan.
Of course the theme of that song is ironic, somewhat intentionally, somewhat incidentally due to the nature of songwriting. I knew Dylan back in the 60s, before he made any money, when I used to hang out at The Scholar, on the west bank, when he lived about 300 feet away. I won't go into detail. He didn't impress me as a deep thinker, but there was depth to his lyrics. His writing and performing at that time were introspective to the degree that they were his reaction to various issues and ideas, personal and private, as well as public, that surrounded that milieu in those days. I could go into detail about that, but most if not all, has been written about elsewhere.
