Prominent Democrat

Rallies Socialist Activists

The Democratic chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee has been caught on tape meeting with a U.S.-based, Marxist-oriented socialist organization to discuss how the group can cooperate to strengthen President Obama and advance their “one-world” plans.

Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who has a long history with the Democratic Socialists of America, or DSA, was recorded promoting a “one-world” government, while asking the socialist group to organize against the war in Afghanistan and in support of Obama’s policies.

“I see that us making him more cooperative with our plans is going to strengthen him and not weaken him,” Conyers says to applause from the DSA activists.

“Whose job do you think it is to get him straightened out and get him on the right track? Ours! Ours!” Conyers exclaimed to more applause.

The meeting occurred earlier this month with a small group of DSA activists and leaders who had come to Washington, D.C., for the “One Nation” rally that was organized by a coalition for progressive groups, including communist and socialist organizations.

The meeting was recorded and was posted on the Internetby DSA National Director Frank Llewellyn.

At the end of the eight-minute video, Conyers states, “I look forward to our next meeting. I want us to schedule it.”

Promoting the concept of a one-world government, Conyers told those assembled, “We know that when unions, political ideology, clergy, labor, civil rights come together and just people who are progressive enough to see in this one-world concept that we’re all in this together, it makes certain things pretty easy to understand where we are coming from.”

The congressman called for picketing and protests to “make it clear to [Obama] that there probably isn’t anybody above the tenth grade who doesn’t know that you cannot win a war in Afghanistan.”

Conyers also slammed the tea party as “small” and “dismissible.”

Conyers has a history with the DSA. He was a special guest at a two-day convention in Detroit in March 1982 that resulted in the formation of DSA. Conyers has spoken at numerous DSA events, including at the socialist group’s national dinner in 2008, where he was the keynote speaker.

More Evidence On Kilroy’s DSA Affiliation

More evidence has emerged that Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy, D-Ohio, was a member of the DSA.

The Oakland, Calif.-based Marxist journal Cross Roads reported in its October 1992 edition that Kilroy is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. The author of the article, Bob Fitrakis, is himself a member of the DSA.

This column previously reported Kilroy is deeply tied to the DSA. She is listed as a member in the socialist group’s own literature.

Editions of the socialist group’s official newsletter, the Democratic Left, listed Kilroy as a DSA member in the 1990s and described how other DSA activists helped with her various campaigns. When Kilroy ran for Congress in 2006, her campaign was aided by DSA members, according to DSA literature.

Hizbullah, Iranian Troops Provided

Security For Ahmadinejad

It was Lebanese-based Iranian Revolutionary Guard units and the Hizbullah-militia that assumed security control for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit earlier this week to Lebanon, according to a senior Lebanese politician.

“The Lebanese Army was just the cover for Iranian Guards based in Lebanon and for Hizbullah, which both assumed full security control for Ahmadinejad,” said the politician, speaking on condition of anonymity.

“This shows how Iran can take over Lebanon’s security when needed,” he said.

The purported security coordination may be the latest sign of widening Iranian and Syrian influence over Lebanon, whose pro-democracy leadership recently had hoped to orient the country toward the West.

Another sign is Ahmadinejad’s visit itself, which was clearly aimed at consolidating Iranian control over Lebanon and proving U.S. influence in the region is on the decline.

Turkish Reporter Aboard Flotilla:

IDF Used Restraint

The Israel Defense Forces did not open fire on activists aboard a Hamas-supporting flotilla until the soldiers’ lives were endangered by those on the now infamous ship, admitted a Turkish journalist who was on the flotilla.

Some participants in the Turkish flotilla, named the Mavi Marmara, had claimed in news media interviews that Israeli troops indiscriminately opened fire upon boarding the ship from a helicopter. Nine activists were killed in the clashes that ensued.

The ship, purchased by the Hamas-linked Turkish charity IHH, was attempting to break Israel’s naval blockade of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The Jewish state maintains the blockade to ensure against Hamas arming itself at sea. The terrorist group had been caught several times attempting to smuggle weapons, including rockets and advanced missiles, into Gaza by sea.

“I saw with my own eyes that when the soldiers came on helicopters and started landing on the ship, they did not fire,” stated Turkish journalist Sefik Dinc.

“It wasn’t until the soldiers were met with resistance and realized that some of their friends’ lives were in danger that they began using live ammunition,” he said.
