Israel, Saudi Arabia Working Together Against Iran

Israel and Saudi Arabia have stepped up their behind-the-scenes coordination to deal with the threat of Iranian nuclear ambitions, according to informed Middle East security officials.

The security officials say Saudi Arabia and other Arab regimes, particularly Egypt, Jordan and Qatar, believe the Obama administration’s policy of diplomacy and UN sanctions will not stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The Arab regimes believe Israel is the only country that can halt Iran’s nuclear program.

The security officials noted an increased level of cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia on both the military and intelligence levels.

While the security officials would not elaborate how Saudi Arabia is purportedly cooperating with Israel militarily, they refused to confirm or deny Internet claims that Saudi Arabia would allow Israeli airplanes to use Saudi soil as a base or that Saudi Arabia provided Israel with permission to fly over its airspace if it attacks Iran.

The information comes as confidential U.S. cables posted by WikiLeaks expose Arab fears of growing Iranian power. One cable related the leaders of Saudi Arabia asked the U.S. in 2009 to launch a military strike to prevent the Iranians from gaining a nuclear bomb.

Obama Wants To ‘Empower’
British Muslim Community

The Obama administration directed embassy employees in the UK to conduct outreach to help “empower” the British Muslim community, according to a classified U.S. diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks and reviewed by this column.

A separate cable summarized statistics showing a rise in the British Muslim population and increased radicalization there. The cable referenced a poll that showed 32 percent of Muslims on UK campuses believe killing in the name of religion is justified, while 40 percent want Muslims in the UK to be under Islamic law, or Shariah.

A cable dated Feb. 5 directed as a “top priority” for the U.S. embassy in Britain to conduct outreach to the Muslim community there.

“Although people of Muslim faith make up only 3 to 4 percent of the UK’s population, outreach to this key audience is vital to U.S. foreign policy interests in the U.K. and beyond. … This is a top Mission priority,” stated the cable.

The cable went on to commend the American ambassador to the UK, Louis Susman, for making Muslim engagement a top priority.

Susman, however, has recently come under fire for his visit to the East London Mosque, which is accused of hosting and espousing extremist Islamist views that have encouraged terrorist acts. The mosque has twice hosted speeches by senior al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Walaki.

Human Rights Curriculum
Features Radicals

New York schools inaugurated a new “human rights” curriculum last week that promotes the work and teachings of Van Jones, president Obama’s former “green jobs” czar.

Jones resigned in September 2009 after it was exposed he founded a communist revolutionary organization and signed a statement that accused the Bush administration of possible involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Jones also called for “resistance” against the U.S., among other revelations of his extremist rhetoric and ideology.

Last Friday, students in classrooms across New York state participated in a webcast to launch the new curriculum, entitled “Speak Truth to Power.” Presented in conjunction with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, the webcast was broadcast live from Chestnut Ridge Middle School in Spring Valley, N.Y.

The curriculum revolves around a book, also entitled “Speaking Truth To Power,” that presents 17 “human rights” defenders, including Jones.

Other so-called defenders include Bangladeshi economist Muhammad Yunus, who was recently accused of misusing humanitarian aid; the Dalai Lama and South African activist Desmond Tutu.

Both Yunus and Tutu are founders of The Global Elders, which has gone on solidarity visits to leaders of the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations.

Have Terrorists Infiltrated The U.S.?

There is a “real possibility” foreign Islamic terrorists already infiltrated the U.S. though the country’s “sufficiently porous” borders, warned former CIA Director James Woolsey.

Commenting on a federal law-enforcement terror-bulletin warning of possible terrorist plots for this holiday season, Woolsey stated symbolic locales in New York and Washington are likely most at risk for any possible attacks.

“I think the thing to be perhaps most worried about is single-person attacks at symbolically important places,” stated Woolsey. “And that would put, I think, New York and Washington particularly perhaps maybe more on notice than other places.”

Woolsey was speaking in an interview on the this reporter’s investigative radio program on New York’s WABC Radio.

Responding to a question about U.S. border security, Woolsey said that “our borders are sufficiently porous that it is at least possible that Hezbollah or other terrorists have come across in some of the ways that people come here just who want to work.”

“And we shouldn’t forget the Canadian border,” he added. “There are real possibilities of people having come in both ways.”

Woolsey warned of the increased terrorist threat emanating from Latin American countries, where Iranian-backed militants are reported to have gained a foothold.
