Note to readers: I believe there is a major lack of independent investigative reporting in the U.S. news media, particularly regarding the White House. I have therefore decided to dedicate much of my time to shedding light on crucial, unreported stories concerning U.S. matters. Starting this week, my Quick Takes column will report on both Israeli and American issues.

Obama Official Authored Far-Left

‘Second Bill of Rights’

A government that is constitutionally required to offer each citizen a “useful” job in the farms or industries of the nation. A country whose leadership intercedes to ensure every farmer can sell his product for a good return. A nation that has the power to act against “unfair competition” and monopolies in business.

No, this is not a description of Cuba, communist China or the old USSR. It’s the vision of the future of the U.S, as mandated by a radical new “bill of rights” drawn up and pushed by President Obama’s newly confirmed regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein. Until now, Sunstein’s proposal has received little scrutiny.

In 2004, Sunstein penned a book, The Second Bill of Rights: FDR’S Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More than Ever, in which he advanced the notion that welfare rights, including some controversial inceptions, be granted by the state.

This column has also learned that in April 2005, Sunstein opened a conference at Yale Law School entitled “The Constitution in 2020,” which sought to create a “progressive” consensus as to what the U.S. Constitution should provide for by the year 2020. It also suggests strategy for how liberal lawyers and judges might bring such a constitutional regime into being.

In his book, Sunstein laid out what he wants to become the new bill of rights, which he calls the Second Bill of Rights.

Among his mandates are the right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries, shops, farms or mines of the nation; the right to earn enough to provide adequate food, clothing and recreation; the right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living; the right of every businessman to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad.

This column has also learned that Sunstein, whose new job gives him oversight of hunting regulations, has several times quoted approvingly from an author who likened animals to slaves and argued an adult dog or a horse is more rational than a human infant and should, therefore, be granted similar rights.

Obama Adviser’s Communist Connection

Was Valerie Jarrett, one of President Obama’s closest advisers, introduced to the president’s political circles by her father-in-law, a communist sympathizer who worked with radical Obama mentor Frank Marshall Davis?

Jarrett reportedly interviewed Obama’s former environmental adviser Van Jones for his White House position from which he resigned last weekend after this reporter exposedJones as a black nationalist and radical communist.

Jarrett’s father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, was an associate of Frank Marshall Davis, the controversial labor movement activist who has been identified by Obama as an early influence on him.

Vernon Jarrett and Davis worked together in 1940 in a Communist Party-dominated organization, the Citizen’s Committee to Aid Packing House Workers. The pair also frequented the South Side Community Art Center, which was dominated by communists. In addition, Davis and Vernon Jarrett worked in the late 1940s on the openly communist Chicago Defender newspaper.

Vernon Jarrett watched the rise of Obama as an activist. When Obama worked for Project Vote to register black voters with the intent of aiding the senatorial campaign of Carol Moseley Braun, Jones took note, writing about Obama’s achievement.

Valerie Jarrett married Vernon’s son, William Robert Jarrett, in 1983. In 1987, she got her start in politics, working for Washington as former deputy corporation counsel for finance and development. She was deputy chief of staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Obama.

Marxists Surround Obama,

Says Columbia Professor

Many of the people working with President Obama are Marxists or socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party, according to a socialist Columbia University professor with strong ties to Obama’s radical associates, including Weathermen terrorist Bill Ayers.

“What makes Obama different is that he has also been a community organizer. He has read left literature, including my works, and he understands what socialism is,” wrote Manning Marable, professor and founding director of the Institute for Research in African American Studies at Columbia University.

“A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists,” Marable wrote in a December 2008 piece published in the Socialist Review.

In the article, Marable contends “Obama is not a Marxist or a socialist – he is a progressive liberal.”

Speaking to this column this week, Marable refused to identify the individuals working with Obama he wrote were socialists with Communist Party backgrounds.

He said, however, those individuals strongly believe Obama would change the “tenor of politics within the Democratic party.”

Marable was not commenting as an outside observer. The Columbia professor is intimately connected to many of Obama’s radical associates, including Ayers and controversial race scholar Cornel West, and even was a founding member of the Socialist New Party. This reporter previously uncovered newspaper evidence showing Obama was a member of the party. This reporter last month intervieweda founder of the New Party, Marxist activist Carl Davidson, who recalled on the record Obama’s participation with his group.
