MK MIri Regev (Likud) has called on Finance Minister Yair Lapid to annul a special tax, levied on residents of the Gaza Belt region, to build bomb shelters in every home.

According to a report on Israel Radio, Regev criticised the government for “capitlizing” on the frustrations felt by residents of the south.

The government funds construction of personal bomb shelters for homes up to seven kilometres from the Gaza border, but residents of the area are required to pay extra taxes for fund the initiative.
