Israel’s Army Radio cited a report in the Turkish daily newspaper Zaman as saying that Turkey has warned Iran against perpetrating acts of terrorism against Israelis or Jewish targets in Turkey.

The report comes after Israel’s counter-terrorism bureau on Tuesday issued a travel advisory to citizens against traveling to Turkey, due to an unspecified plan by “terror groups to carry out attacks against Jewish and Israeli targets in Turkey in the coming days.”

Turkey’s alleged admonition and Israel’s travel advisory come in the wake of a report that surfaced last week that the Mosssad had warned Turkish intelligence officials of an imminent plot by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force to carry out attacks against Israeli sites. First reported by the Turkish daily Hurriyet, Turkish intelligence officials refused to comment on the report.
Israel’s relations with Turkey have cooled considerably since current Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took office, and whereas in the past Turkey was a preferred destination for Israelis, recent years have seen a substantial drop-off in Israeli tourism.
