An “almost hit” safety event took place last Friday when two F-16 aircraft approached each other during a training flight, disregarding their instructions. There were no casualties or damage. The two aircraft teams included the head of squadron personnel and the commander of the Hatzerim base.
Following the incident, IAF commander Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel ordered that the entire day Sunday be dedicated to general safety training in all IAF bases and squadrons. At the same time, the incident is being investigated like every IDF safety event.
