UPDATED

As many as ten people were shot Friday in front of the Empire State Building in New York, a spokesman for the New York Fire Department said.

The shooting occurred at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.

According to the New York Post, the mayhem arose from a work dispute, when one worker, now identified as Jeffrey Johnson, stalked his colleague down the streets of New York City, shot him dead and then turned his gun on other pedestrians.

Authorities converged on the building around 9 a.m. after reports of gunfire.  A NYC police officer saw the gunman and took him out with one shot.

At least ten people have been injured.

The gunman and at least one civilian are dead.

Good shot, 1 for the cops 0 for the thug.

  2. Pat McCrann says:

Well the thug shot ten people.

  3. Pat McCrann says:

If the colleague he shot dead had had a gun, only the perpetrator would have been dead.

  4. Nev Westlake says:

The only reason we have mass killings is that no one else had a gun.

  5. Yori Yanover says:

Interesting. So, 50,000 murders in the U.S., as compared to literally single or double digits in other industrialized democracies are the results of too FEW guns in America?

I think America has lost its mind so long ago with its need to unleash its homicidal, urges, there's no going back until local communities start fighting in earnest gun manufacturing, vending and ownership.

I also think Obama is a coward for not trying to make at least assault rifles illegal again. Another reason I'm not voting for him.

  6. Pat McCrann says:

Yori Yanover, guns were legal here in Britain once too. Sherlock Holmes carried one. the streets were not littered with bodies. Look elsewhere for the reason for violent crime. It is a mark of fascist governments to disarm the citizenry. Learn your history. Hundreds of millions of people killed in the last couple of hundred years have been killed by GOVERNMENTS. I guess you voted for Obama previously? doh

  7. Stephen Leavitt says:

Uhh, Sherlock Holmes was a fictional character in a book.

  8. Stephen Leavitt says:

Actually, some of it was ricochets, and some may have been from the police.

  9. Pat McCrann says:

Uhh, but the book reflects the culture of the time. People carried guns. People knew that their right to carry arms was something they should protect.
