Former Knesset Member Said Nafa of the Balad party.

Israel’s state prosecutor is asking for a 2-5 year  imprisonment term for former Balad party MK, Said Nafa.

A Nazareth court ruled that Safa was guilty of visiting an enemy state and meeting with foreign agents during his 2007 trip to Syria.

During his visit, Safa met with an official from the Popular Front (PFLP) terror group, and tried to meet with a Hamas’s Haled Mashaal.

16 Druze sheikhs, for whom Nafa had secured travel visas, had the charges against them dropped, after they promised to only visit Syria by going through the proper authorities. Israeli Druze, who live primarily on the Golan Heights, are often allowed to go back and forth to Syria where their relatives live on the other side of the border.

In 2007, another Balad MK, Azmi Bashara, fled Israel after being suspected of communicating the location of strategic targets to Hezbollah, as well as advising Hezbollah on how best to attack Israel during the 2006 Lebanon War.

In the 90’s, Yossi Beilin, Shimon Peres and others secretly and illegally met with PLO terrorists behind the government’s back, dragging Israel into the disastrous Oslo Accords that left over a 1000 Israelis dead in terror attacks.
