A 48-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of defacing several synagogues in the Bat Yam area, south of Tel Aviv. The police said the suspect implicated himself during his initial questioning. They said his capture was a result of intense overt and covert activities. Police now want to have him undergo psychiatric evaluation.

The latest attack on a synagogue occurred over this past weekend; yet another synagogue was defaced with black crosses spray-painted over the entrance. This attack was the last in a series of synagogue vandalism over the past few weeks.
