Swastikas were painted on mailboxes in front of a Jewish fraternity at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

The swastikas were painted on mailboxes in front of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house, according to a report filed with the Eugene Police on Monday night, the Daily Emerald student newspaper reported.

The fraternity also informed the Dean of Students of the attack.

The police do not have any leads in the case, a police spokeswoman told the Register-Guard newspaper.

Anti-Semitic or other discriminatory graffiti “hasn’t happened a lot” in Eugene in recent years, the spokeswoman told the newspaper.

Swastikas were painted on the back door of the fraternity house several years ago, a student told local television station KMTR.

The city of Eugene’s human rights commission “strongly condemns these types of hateful actions,” commission member Phil Carrasco said in a statement, the Register Guard reported. “This symbol comes from a place of hate and is used to promote hate,” he said.

Andy Gitelson, executive director of  Oregon Hillel, said that there is a heightened sensitivity to the graffiti due to Israel’s current military operation in Gaza.

  1. Jeremiah 9 –
13 And the Lord said,“Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, 14 but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them,” 15 therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. 16 I will scatter them also among the gentiles, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send a sword after them until I have consumed them.”

” I will scatter them also among the gentiles,… and I will send a sword after them “

  2. Anti-semitism is growing fast in America. I actually fear for my children and Grandchildren, as there is no Jewish community where I live. Actually, we’ve been the only Jews in our area for the past 20 years. Recently, my adult daughter was called a ‘dirty Jew’ at a local Walmart, and I’m seeing locals, with FB pages, that boost anti-semitic propaganda.

  4. Any Jew with a brain wouldn’t go to some stupid ass school that has a 85% acceptance rate! The school has traditionally been for morons that can’t get into UCLA, USC, Berkeley, or Stanford! What do you expect from the Northwest?

  5. Having sat in on a few “Middle Eastern Studies” classes…(Might better be named, “Misinformation, indoctrination, and outright BS studies) I can say that some, though not all… seem to be mostly incubators for a very -revised- history, BS and hate.

  7. I am so sorry to hear this! I never experienced anything that racist in America. Just little jabs here and there…send your daughter on a birthright trip! So she doesn’t get down on herself. I would be horrified if that happened to me as a teen! We made Aliyah 2 years ago. It hasn’t been easy but, this is a place where you can be Jewish and be proud of it!

  8. We have always been proud of our heritage, and have stood up to anti-Semites many, many times. Even in the Army, I experienced anti-Semitism. I grew up as the only Jewish family in my neighborhood, and faced it head on. Sadly, I am seeing a rise here in the States, as people are really believing all the propaganda. I love Israel, and always wanted to make Aliyah, unfortunately, my health will no longer permit it. It was amazing to be in Israel, where I was called by my Hebrew name only. I felt totally safe, and at home. My daughter is too old for a birthright trip, but I do have hopes of taking them all for a trip to Israel.

  11. Not all swastikas are nazi. There should be courses on the swastikas. The one in the picture is not a nazi swastika and if it was meant to be one by a collage student that’s an educational, parental, societal shame. Buddha and Jewish, side by side is what I see.

  13. Haters hate and will promote it in any way they can regarding any. In other words they want you to hate black people, or mexicans or something a little different or the government or . . . well, you name it and they are willing to come up with a reason why it is right to HATE a group. Of course their is no justification to what they but then there are many weak minds here that will get to remain here with all that hate when the new world blossoms. 🙁

  14. David, in California Universities, the Middle Eastern Studies Classes are funded by Saudi’s, and are in fact teaching anti-semitism, and hatred toward Israel, and Jews, along with false information about land disputes, and more! These classes and the groups on campus’ are inciting Jew hatred, and recruiting Jihadists from all religious backgrounds. I have had two children graduate from Berkeley, and Davis, and I can tell you flat out this is happening! There are crimes on dorm rooms against jewish students, and more happening. It is deplorable, and disgusting. The spreading by pro palestinian CAIR backed student groups forcing students and teachers to bend to their belief systems is staggering! UCLA is one of the only campus’ fighting back, especially agains the BDS movement which is strictly a Jew hating movement!

  15. You are an idiot. It is not about education. This was a targeted statement – it was drawn at the Jewish frat house – it wasn’t at a Native American site or a totally neutral site. And the context of when it was done – the timing is a clear message too. This was a specific targeted hate crime, not an opportunity for education or exploration or enlightenment.

  17. then the person who drew it doesn’t know what a nazi swastika looks like. That is a nazi moron and needs to be educated. The nimble should at least know the truth about what it is promoting. Who ever did this knows nothing about being a nazi.
