Stray fire from the Syrian civil war sent a Syrian army tank shell on a northern Golan Heights community Wednesday after three months of quiet. No one was injured, and there was no property damage, and army sappers naturalized the shell.

Similar to the mortar shells that exploded in the Golan Heights last November, there were no signs that loyalists to Syrian President Bashar Assad were targeting Israel.

Gunfire from Syria has been constant background noise for Golan residents. Golan Regional Council deputy head Uri Kellner told a local radio station, “This the third or fourth time this has bled into our area, and it cannot continue.”

He said the IDF determined that the tank shell came from the Syrian army and not from rebels, who have take control of several villages near the border.
