Israeli Border Guard Police arrested a Gaza resident on Wednesday at the Qalandiya crossing north of Jerusalem.

The 32-year-old Gazan, whose presence at the crossing was not clear, was found to be carrying a knife.

Initial questioning of the suspect following his arrest revealed that he intended to carry out a terror attack with the knife he held in his possession.

The police noted that it was the vigilance and determination of the officers operating at the Jerusalem Envelope crossings that prevented the attack that otherwise would have taken place.

“Israel Police who operate at the Jerusalem Envelope crossings prevent the entry of unauthorized individuals every day in order to thwart any attempt to introduce firearms that could be used to carry out terror attacks,” said an Israel Police spokesperson.
