The U.S. is not as accustomed to the frenetic activity of radical NGO’s that exist in Western Europe, for example. But as Steinberg points out, in that part of the world, the same one which funnels enormous wads of cash to radical NGO’s in Israel, “NGOs are important vehicles for exercising the normative or ‘soft power’ that post-Cold War officials have defined as the central dimension of their foreign policy.”

In other words, only Israel is inundated with dozens of radical NGO’s which are primarily funded by outside governments to do harm to Israel’s own democratic process. And that is the context in which this proposed Transparency Law must be viewed.
