US Embassy in Cairo Shelters US Pro-Democracy Employees in Egypt

JewishPress Logo

Amid growing concerns that the current Egyptian crackdown on pro-democracy groups is being extended to foreign nationals, the American embassy in Cairo on Sunday gave refuge to US citizens employed by nongovernmental organizations.

This drastic move comes a week after Sam LaHood, director of the International Republican Institute in Egypt and son of US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, was prevented from boarding an international flight out of Cairo.
