US General to Visit Egypt

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey will meet with his Egyptian counterpart in Egypt this week, amid rising tensions over Egypt’s prosecution of pro-democracy NGO workers in Egypt.

The visit was reportedly scheduled before the issue arose, but Dempsey’s spokesman told AFP that “[w]ith the Egyptians, Gen. Dempsey will discuss common interests, choices and consequences.”
