Wages of Hate: Gaza Drowning in Its Own Excrement

Normal people wouldn't celebrate this kind of misery, but the Hamas is not staffed by normal people.
The Hamas government pushes 3.5 million cubic feet of raw sewage into the Mediterranean Sea daily. Gaza is sinking into an environmental catastrophe with dead bodies lying in the sewage flooded streets soon to follow.

Last week, the Hamas celebrated the one-year anniversary of Pillar of Defense, that bizarre mosquito vs. F-16 conflict in which several Israeli buildings were hit by Gazan rockets and three Israelis were killed in their sleep (including one baby), and, on the other side of the border, large portions of Gaza were reduced to rubble.

Normal people wouldn’t celebrate this kind of misery, they would hang their heads in shame. But the Hamas is not staffed by normal people. The Hamas would literally swim in a pool of human refuse rather than recognize the right of its Jewish neighbors to the north and east to be alive.

A case in point: Jodi Rudoren’s report on raw sewage that’s been flooding the streets of a southern Gaza City neighborhood, the Islamist Hamas government shut down Gaza’s remaining power plant on Nov. 1, which, in turn, caused a pump station to flood.

In a crowded place like Gaza, one of the most crowded places on the planet, raw sewage flooding the streets means the outbreak of cholera and other plagues can’t be far behind. And three more sewage stations in Gaza City and 10 others across the Gaza Strip are about to overflow, sanitation officials told The Times.

Oh, and if Israelis living in luxury homes with great ocean views feel that this is someone else’s problem, it appears that 3.5 million cubic feet of raw sewage is gushing into the Mediterranean Sea daily.

Freshly caught fish, anyone? We get daily deliveries…

The Gaza sanitation department is warning that without sufficient electricity, it won’t be able to pump drinking water to Gaza homes. Gaza’s 1.7 million residents are now experiencing daily power failures of 12 to 18 hours. They sit in the dark, surrounded by pools of human excrement, and there’s no water.

Welcome to the 21st century’s Heart of Darkness, where yesterday’s bad things are today’s nostalgia.

Of course, we all know who is to blame for this – ask Juan R.I. Cole, the Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan, who two days ago wrote the immortal headline: Israel forces Gaza Children to Wade through Sewage as Creepy, Evil Blockade Continues.

Except that, according to Gisha, an Israeli group advocating freedom of movement to Gazans, even those with explosive overcoats, the number of Palestinians allowed to leave Gaza through Israel’s Erez crossing is up nearly 30 percent since July. And the number of trucks bringing goods, including fuel, into Gaza from Israel has increased 18 percent since July.

It’s exits and supplies through Egypt’s Rafah crossing which have been cut by two thirds since the Hamas patrons in Cairo had been hauled to prison.

Professor Juan R.I. Cole of the University of Michigan says it's all the fault of Israel.

Professor Juan R.I. Cole of the University of Michigan says it’s all the fault of Israel.

Prof. Juan Cole desperately needs a new article generator.

The fact is, Hamas’s insistence that the only solution to Gaza’s problems is for the Jews to die en masse is coming back to haunt them. First, the Jews are not accepting this oprion for the moment. Second, Hamas’s defiant mode of supplies, through smuggling tunnels, is being effectively blocked by both Egypt and Israel. It’s a tossup right now who is more hell bent on bringing the Islamists down, Israel or the new rulers of Egypt. My money is on the Egyptians.

Finally, Hamas is not getting along with their brethren, the Fatah, either. They refuse to pay the $6.48 per gallon Fatah wants for the Israeli fuel it resells them. They say they won’t pay more than $3.16 per gallon, take it or leave it.

Fatah said, Leave it, and Hamas closed the last operating power plant. Now, that’s defiance.

It’s true that in comparison with Gaza, the PA’s Ramallah looks like a shining star of efficiency and prosperity—if not democracy. But that only works with the comparison thing. Otherwise, you won’t find a single, solitary Israeli Arab citizen willing to switch sides. Ask Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, he proposed it. Why not do a land swap, he asked innocently (OK, not innocently). Let the settlements become part of Israel, and in return the thriving Arab cities of Taibe and Um El Fahem would join the Palestinian State. You should have seen their raging response: they called him a racist and a fascist, for suggesting they become proud, independent Palestinians…

Juan Cole wrote: “Children are risking cholera and worse because they have to walk through raw sewage to get to school. The sewage has flooded the streets in Gaza City because the sewage treatment plant has no electricity. It has no electricity because the Israelis are blockading the strip, including its children (50% of the population). The Israelis are not letting cheap fuel in.”

But none of it is even remotely true, except for the fact that a high percentage of Gazans are children. The Israelis don’t sell fuel to Gaza, cheap or otherwise, the PA does. And Egypt used to.

It’s no fun wading through Gaza’s pools of you know what, and it won’t be any fun reading about the inevitable outbreak of mega diseases there. I also have no idea whether the rainy season, which is upon us, is good or bad for the conditions there. But I do hope that the inevitable mass suffering in Gaza would finally bring about the toppling of the Islamist monsters who are sitting on the necks of the Palestinians.

Gaza first.

while Juan R.I. Cole, the Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan are spewing lies and hate, Israeli's are paying big time for the Gazans' electricity (our electric bills were increase by about 14% to pay for murderers to have electricity), that Hamas refuses to pay for .they do have the money for it, they would just rather spend it on bombs and missiles to blow up Israelis who are giving them electricity and medical and food aid.

  4. Gazans drowning in their own excrement — there is justice in this world.

  5. it is appropriate for the terrorist jew hat ing hamas and its savage followers to be living in a sewer. i just wonder how they can tell the difference?

  6. Sounds like a plague with a sense of poetic justice. It's a plague of their own making though. I know I'd much rather have a flushing toilet and fresh water than a bunch of RPGs or whatever sticks and stones they'd rather trade in exchange for a decent life. I suppose if you strap bombs to your own children, you probably don't care if they grow up in filth.

They are called "Pale****nians" for a good reason…

  8. So down are the american universities, what kind of university is the University of Michigan to have "Profesor Juan Cole", he looks "spanish", what a shame for the spanish people in US to have such university "profesor", or from where he boutht his "profesor" title?.

  9. Oh!, Hamas is sleeping on their own ****?. ha ha ha.

  10. Michigan has the largest Muslim population on the US. I read Obama paid for hundreds of Palestinians to move there. Michigan welfare office phones have a push 3 for Arabic……….How do you like them apples???….not me!!!!

  11. Anonymous says:

According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel does sell (or give) the Gazans fuel. Also, they sell (or give) them electricity and water. Israel even lets the Gazans import cement and concrete, even though they use these materials to build terror tunnels for invading Israel.

Israel has nothing to do with the Gazans' sewage problem or any of their other problems. These problems are all self-created- sort of "back-up" of hate.

  12. They should have not taken the Gaza strip from the Israelis, The Jews had it looking pleasant and now what?

  13. what is wrong with you?

  14. Su Convy says:

All the money is going into arms to destroy Israel. They are so focussed on this, that vital governmental functions such as sanitation & sewerage are going by the board. They have no interest in anything else. Then they try to blame Israel. They wanted Gaza. It was handed over in good order. Now look at it!

  15. Typical cutting their noses off to spite their faces at the same time poisoning the Mediterranean sea. All fish close to Gaza will be destroyed. Let us hope an outbreak of Dystentry and collerera will bring them to their senses and wipe most of the aggressors out.

  16. Run Guo says:

Surely as the earth is round, so shall God curses those brainful fools.
