World Jewish Congress leader Ronald Lauder called Tuesday to hold the General Assembly of the World Jewish Congress in Kiev, in order to support hold the embattled Jewish community in Ukraine.

According to a report on the European Jewish Press website, Lauder made the comments during a meeting Monday with heads of leading Jewish organizations and rabbis in the Ukrainian capital. Jewish leaders at the gathering included Vadim Rabinovich, Co-Chairman of the European Jewish Parliament and President of the All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress.

Lauder and Rabinovich said they would plan an international Jewish business forum in Kiev in order to lure Jewish investment in the country.
