World’s Oldest Jewish Person Dies at 113

The world’s oldest Jewish person has died in New York City at age 113, the Star Tribune reports.

Evelyn Kozak’s granddaughter, Brucha Weisberger, says she died early Tuesday in a hospital after suffering a heart attack the day before.

Kozak was the world’s oldest documented Jewish person and the seventh-oldest person in the world, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

Kozak was born in New York City on Aug. 14, 1899. She was one of nine children of a family that immigrated from Russia.

She had five children, 10 grandchildren and just under 30 great-grandchildren. She lived in New York, Perth Amboy, N.J., Miami and Pittsburgh.
