The world’s largest manufacturer of automotive parts, Japanese auto parts company Denso, has announced it will open a new research and development center in Israel next month.

The company already has R&D centers in Japan and Finland, according to Globes.

Denso said its Israel R&D satellite will focus on innovative technologies in cyber security, telecommunications, artificial intelligence (AI), sensing and software.

Its new Israeli R&D center will begin collaborating with local startups to pioneer new technologies in automated driving, AI and cybersecurity, the company said, in addition to collaborative research with local companies and universities.

Last year Denso conducted a study tour in Israel which included meetings with a range of startups in the smart car sector. The firm has already invested in the Israeli auto-tech communications company, Autotalks.
