The IDF Spokesman on Friday reported that an IAF aircraft attacked a squad of terrorists who were launching incendiary balloons at Israel from the northern Gaza Strip, following three weeks of relative quiet along the Gaza Strip border.

According to Arab reports, the squad had managed to launch 20 balloons before being attacked. It is not known whether any of the launchers were hurt.

Many Arab demonstrators are expected to respond to calls from the mosques in Gaza urging them and to hold violent riots at the border, under the slogan, “We return to you anew so you’ll lift the siege.”

The riots, expected to be the largest in recent weeks, were urged on Thursday by Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, who admitted Hamas had reduced the pressure on Israel to give mediators – primarily the United Nations and Egypt – an opportunity to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip. Since those efforts have failed, Sinwar wants to pressure Israel into relieving the siege through Hamas-inspired and paid-for riots.
