Explosive charge made to look like a wire cutter.

An IDF tank shelled an observation post in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, in response to an explosive device that had been placed near the border fence in order to harm Israeli forces operating in the area. IDF forces identified a suspicious wire cutter that was suspended leaning against the border fence. Military sappers neutralized the charge in a controlled explosion. There were no casualties.

The observation post was attacked while it was tracking the IDF activity around the make-believe wire cutter. Witnesses told Ma’an that the exploding charge was heard on the Israeli side of the border before the shelling.

According to the PA Health Ministry, at least two Arabs were killed and several injured.

According to Ma’an, a member of the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, was killed Sunday morning by Israeli artillery shelling targeting a checkpoint east of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli artillery fired two shells at the observation point, Ma’an reported. Later, Al-Quds Brigades named the martyrs who were killed in the IDF shelling east of Rafah, and vowed revenge. The two men claiming 72 virgins each this morning are Hussein Samir al-Amour, 25, and Abdel-Halim Abdel-Karim al-Naqa, 28.

This has been the second IDF attack on Gaza targets in the past 24 hours.
